LCC{ the Concessionaire of the pioneering 30-year PPP Toll Road Concession covering 49.4Km of Lekki-Epe Expressway under a mandate from Lagos State Government{ and the first project of its kind in Nigeria{ today formally commissioned two 500 KVA transformers donated to the Eti Osa communities of Sangotedo and Ajah Ilaje{ respectively. The brief commissioning ceremonies held at both sites where the transformers were recently installed by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (“PHCN”) was attended by representatives from the Lagos State Government Roads Board{ the Chairman for Lagos State Local Council Development Area for Eti-Osa East{ Alhaji Yisa Owolabi and various council members{ the representative for Sangotedo constituents in the Lagos State Government House of Representatives{ community leaders and Executive Committee members from the community development associations (CDAs){ members from Eti Osa East grassroots community and senior managers from PHCN{ amongst others.
LCC is well-known for its saying “we see more than a road”. “It is not only constructing the road that counts” said LCC’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications{ Mr. Charles Imevbore{ in his address; “As part of our company’s on-going Community Support Programme initiatives{ we have been working together with Lagos State Eti Osa Local Council Development Areas and various community associations of Eti Osa{ in developing and rehabilitating some of the existing amenities serving host communities along the Lekki-Epe Expressway. Through a research study carried out in concert with Lagos State Local Council Development Area for Eti-Osa East{ we discovered that power supply transformers in seven (7) communities in Eti Osa East were either non-existent{ inefficient and/or could do with rehabilitation or replacement. As a result{ on 6 October{ 2009{ we immediately decided to start by donating two transformers{ a 500/11KVA and 500/33 KVA{ for use by Ajah Ilaje and Sangotedo communities of Eti Osa East respectively”. Following the successful installation of the two transformers by PHCN{ on 10 November{ 2009{ both units have since been in full operation and providing much needed relief to homes and businesses in the areas.
